My 68000 computer

Welcome to my site. I’ve always been a fan of the 68000 series processor, mainly due to the fact i was a big fan of the Commodore Amiga computers.

Serveral years ago i came across the Kiwi, a 68008 based computer designed by Simon Ferber.

Y Ddraig (The Dragon) is heavily influenced by the Kiwi’s design.

The specifications are:

  • 68000 CPU running at 10Mhz.
  • 512K EEPROM
  • 1M of Static RAM
  • 14M Dynamic RAM
  • 2 Serial Ports
  • 2 Joystick ports
  • PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse
  • Dual SID Sound
  • IDE interface
  • Real-time Clock
  • CP2200 Ethernet controller
  • V9990 Video Display Processor with 512K VRAM

While a hard drive is supported and will be able to load software, the intention is to have the computer boot into a fully working system with a basic prompt just like many of the computer systems that were available in the 1980s.

Software development will mainly be done on a PC using mainly C and assembler.
